The ceiling was painted first, then I cut in the walls with a 3" straight brush, freehand. It was my first time cutting in without painter's tape. The end result is actually much better - no bleeding and no rips in the paint from tape removal.

  • The baseboard molding, and actually all other trim including the window frames, had previously been painted the same antique white as the walls, by the previous owners. The baseboard molding got 2 coats of Sherwin Williams Pro Classic semi gloss latex, bright white color, with about 4oz XIM extender added to extend the wet time, so I didn't get brush marks, and the door moldings got 3 coats.

  • The baseboard trim was painted last, after the ceiling and walls. I made the cut line between the baseboard and wall freehand without painter's tape, using a 2.5" angle brush.
